Anyone actually done the quartz clock conversion kit at home ?
Guys, I purchased a quartz conversion from Mid America, and only after I get it does it say, "Only do this on Borg Clocks" Do not attempt on "Westclock" (W) or "General Time" (G.T.), clock. Question, does anyone know if the C2 1965's had a Borg clock ? I have to remove my clock just to find out !! Thx Elmer

I replaced the clock in my 65 and it worked just fine..
Hard part was removing the clock from the car...
I have AC so there is not much room..
Follow the instructions and you shoudn't have any trouble..
Once you start to take things apart it should start to make more sense..
It looked worse than it was..
But then again,
I'm used to working on small electronic items. :smash:

I did the clock in my 65 Coupe with Factory air. It took about an hour, from start to finish. :chevy

Is the clock, a "Borg Clock". The instructions say it cannot be a "GT" or "Westlake clock" for the kit to work., Do the 65 Vette's have Borg Clocks ?
Thx Elmer

I don't recall but,
Since there are two 65's already repaired using this kit I have to assume that whatever the kit was for, it works..
I know the kit also worked on a 63 as a friend repaired his using the same kit..
Shouldn't be a problem..
BTW
You may find as I did that you can clean thie original and it will begin to work again...
Works fine...
An hour for the repair sounds about right as I recall..
Hardest part for me was seeing how the clock came out of the dash..

...you have a borg clock...the advice you've gotten here is right on the money...removing the clock is simple...once apart, you'll have to pry the clock bezel off the trim ring because it's peened in place....i just epoxied it back into place and it has held up well...the clock lens is plastic (the only one on a midyear) so use the scratch polish for convertible top windows on that and it should look pretty good....follow the instructions on how to relieve the tension on the clock mechanism so that you won't have problems turning the hands to set the proper time...now is also probably a good time to repaint the clock bezel....is should be semigloss black with the chrome showing through only on the top, flat portion of the bezel...easy job but patience is required
