30-30 again
i have an old cam marked gm 22-3899347 is this the 30-30 used with solid lifters? i see that there is a 340346 number also,which is the 30-30 used with solid lifters?

Check the casting number again - the only Chevy cam I show with "347" as the last three digits of the casting number is 3849347, which was finish-machined as P/N 3849346, the solid-lifter "30-30" cam.

it was common to see one Higher number at the end of the camshaft...
at least on the 30-30...
i have no idea why.,, but i've had 3 GM 30-30 cams and they were all stamped 3849347.
I thought i had the wrong shaft in my car twice LOL

3849347 is the CASTING number for the core; after machining, the dowel was added at the front, so the finished PART number for the assembly (cam and dowel) was 3849346. GM used a unique raw casting for each different cam to minimize the amount of metal removal required during machining; the engine plants machined 300 cams per hour.
