Default 1966 Teak Wood Steering Wheel; Best place to buy

If anyone has any suggestion for who or where I can buy a 1966 Teak wood steering wheel, please let me know.

I am being told by a reputable restorer that when it comes to the teak wood steering wheel, that I should buy a new one versus a true "original" since the quality of the new ones are very good and is identical to the originals.

Just so everyone knows my intention of the car. I plan on restoring the car to factory specs meaning painting and coating everything as close as I can to original but I do not intend to have the car judged. I plan on enjoying the car by driving it.

Thanks for your advice.

SAS,

CTJack & I are treating ourselves to Eric's wheels this Christmas.
I approached Eric over a month ago in regards to a group buy, but he wasn't interested. He currently charges $ 550.00 for the wheel.

If you are looking to purchase one now, contact Jim @ Elmer's Auto Parts, 585-729-6002. Mention my name, he might give you the same deal. Jim was expecting to receive four wheels from Eric this week, not sure if he had takers for the remaining two.

PM me if you need any details.

Good Luck!

About a 'group buy'...

I can tell you that Eric works 12 hrs a day 6 days a week. His product is in high demand.

With that in mind (supply and demand) he will not lower his price, and I don't blame him. I tried to get him to advertise here and he said he had all the business he could handle without any more advertising. He does most of the work himself!

Actually, I'm surprised he doesn't charge more.....

Your friend is wrong! Erics wheels are outstanding and I hightly recomend them-I have bought more than a dozen of them but there are a couple of sublte differences between orginal and his reproductions. He makes his own centers and they are too sharp on the edges. Unless he has corrected the issue in the last few months, any judge will be able to tell the difference by just touching the wheel.
Again, buy his wheels but there is a minor difference.

The "Jim" Brett refers to is aka "harleyjim" for those of you that will make the connection. And thanks Brett for working up the deal that put the wheel under my tree!

I noticed that also.
A little work with some steel wool can soften those edges.
Then it would take a little more effort for the judges to tell the difference.

Those wheels are gorgeous.
