Trailing Arm Bushing Tool....do I need one?
I was ordering parts to rebuild the trailing arms on my 65. I noticed they sell a tool to install the bushings at the front of the trailing arms. They advertise that using this tool was "the only way to correctly install the trailing arm bushings" Do I really need this tool to install the new bushings and trailing arms back onto the car? Thanks

One of our local Corvettes only shop (Corvette Connection) routinely does this for customers.... Cheaper than buying the tool.....

You need the correct tool or make one. The bushing needs to be compress and the inner sleeve flared at the same time. Some of the tools I see that use a hammer to flare the sleeve don't work so good.
Here is what I made and use.
This is what they should look like:

Yes you do need one. I have one and it's the only way I can see to set the bushings in right. They are around 60 bucks. What else can you buy for these cars that is that cheap. If you only use it once it is worth it.
