Default 66 Gas Tank Presure

With everyones help on this forum, I believe I identified my gas leak as the filler neck gasket. I changed the gas cap (vented) and the filler neck gasket, I believe I got rid of the gas fumes in the garage, but now I have some back presure when I remove the gas cap. Is this normal. It makes sense to me because now the system is sealing where it was not prior. What do you think?

Shouldn't be any pressure at all. I'd check the vent in the cap. Chuck

If you have the proper cap, it should be vented to the atmosphere and not allow any pressure buildup.

You should use a vented cap that has a small hole that you can see. This will sometimes cause a slight gas smell, but it is necessary.

Larry, you certainly have a strange way of testing a gas cap. I usually just suck or blow on it, but then I have a headache for a while.

Ralph.

I took that picture to make a point in a long ago thread about vented gas caps.

The replacement cap does have a small hole in the middle/inside and is identified as vented on the top. I'll blow and see if it vents, but maybe its defective because it definately had pressure buildup yesterday. Thanks for your comments.

Personally, I always remind her that blow is just an expression
