I want my $600k back!
Your advice please. Should I sue Barrett Jackson? I just paid $600,000 for a car that BJ documented to be the last Sting Ray. I dont know squat about corvettes but if BJ says it's the last Sting Ray then it must be, right? Then I see this ad from 1968 where Chevrolet is referring to the car as a Sting Ray and my buddy tells me this is a 1968 Corvette which would have been built AFTER the one I just bought!!!
(no, I'm not really the buyer)

Yes, the 1968 was unbadged, and therefore some say it is not a Stingray or a Sting Ray. In 69 they brought back the name as one word, Stingray. This stuff is actually debated at great length!! Many don't realize that Chevy advertised the 68 corvette as a "Sting Ray" even tho there were no badges on the vehicle.

I'm confused? did you buy a 67 or 68. The term last Sting Ray was intened to the Last Mid Year Sting Ray off the production line before they started tooling up for the next gen (C3 cars). At least this is what I think and understood???? EDIT just noticed you did not buy it!!! Are you stirring the pot to see who bites? LOL

The "Last Mid-Year" may be more accurate, or the "Last Mid-Year Sting-Ray", or the "Last C2 Sting-Ray", or the "Last 1967 Sting-Ray, or.....well, you get the point!
I guess "The Last Stingray" is an attention getter.

Now, in a similar vein, Chevy said that they would not make convertibles after 1975. In 2006 they again produced a convertible. One original owner of a '75 sued GM noteing that their vehicle had been "devalued" based on the once again availability of convertibles. This person beat GM in court and was awarded damages.

$35 Million? I think you missed a few days of the auction. The total sales were almost $112 Million. Also, do not forget each bidder had to pay $500 to be eligible to bid, and if you were an online or phone bidder, you paid more in buyers commissions.

Misprint?
Maybe a misprint? I remember when I was younger there was a Boy Scout magazine advertising you could win a brand new 1983 Corvette in some contest they were having. Showed a picture of the 82 model before change over.
BYW. My wife and I were at B-J last week. Saw the last Sting Ray. He had posters and flyers printed up about the car that he was giving away.
Also saw the "original" 63 SWC. According to my wife, who's had her SWC since 1980, it didn't look that original. But still nice.
Just my 2 cents.
