Default 1964 Interior Color Combinations

My father owns a 64' Satin Silver coupe. It is a very low miles car and has silver leather seats. The car is all original. I am curious about the color of the dash. It is very dark blue in color. Is this color a normal combination. I was told it was not a very common color for a silver car with silver interior. Is this true. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!

GTOJUDGE,
Silver seats, blue dash was a "normal color combination" although not a common one. Nice combo though.

The trim tag under the glove box should be stamped, TRIM 899MG and PAINT 940AA,which would be correct for your Dad's car. Also, the build date would be after somtime between 3-25-64 through the end of production.

Sounds like a great car.

Hello Matt,
The interior trim color 899MG is silver vinyl, silver door trim, blue dash, blue console, gray rugs. The options it was built with are A-31 power windows, and U-69 AM-FM radio.

I believe that would be Silver Leather Seats with the rest of your description correct.

Default 1964 Interior Color Combinations

Hello Drew,

In looking at the trim tags on my dad's corvette the tags say 899BA and Style F18. The paperwork state the trim as 899MG. Are you saying that a corvette without power windows or without an AM/FM radio would have a different set of letters after the 899 code? How can one tell by looking at the trim tag or paperwork what color blue dash is in the car? Wasn't there more than one type of blue offered in 1964? The blue on this car is so dark it is almost black. What color blue would this be called? Were all blue dashes this color? I see that there were some 1,300 + 64's with the silver leather seats. How many were built with this color dash? I appreciate the interest in helping me. I just don't have all the corvette knowledge as some on the forum. Thanks again!!!!!

The only blue used in 1964 interiors was called Dark Blue. It can appear black in dim light but certainly looks blue in bright sunlight.

Here's a pic of my 1964's interior. The color combo is white with dark blue (trim tag says 491GE)

So, what did they do about color on the inside of the doors?

These typically match the interior color, but what happens when the interior is a mix of colors?

The interior surface of a coupe door would be the same as the color of the seats/door trim etc. I once owned a white/white interior blue accents 64 coupe that had white door interior painted surfaces.

White and silver interior colors for 64 were very strange.

Here's an old pic of a new 64 with white/blue accents interior. (not sure who the punk is in the car) The top of the door shows white, as does the halo panel and mldgs around the rear window. The quarter trim was white as well. As in 1BAD-LS1's pic above, the seats, center cushion, door trim and seat belts were white. (the guy that wrote the manual for that other org thinks the seat belt buckles are supposed to match the carpet color) The rest of the interior components would be the accent color.

1BAD-LS1 ,That interior color is beautiful. I also like the white seat belts. Cool picture Critter 1. Like I said earlier, I haven't another silver leather interior with the dark blue dash. I didn't realize that the interior appointments would show up differently on the paperwork compared to the trim tag in the car. Any color of interior for a 64 is good looking to me!!

Hello Matt,
The trim tag info 899BA = base, excludes A-31 power window and M-35
automatic transmission.
The trim tag info 899MG = A-31 power window and U-69 AM-FM radio,
excludes C-60 air conditioning and M-35 automatic transmission.

Thanks Drew,

What does the Style F18 represent. Is there any breakdown in production of interior colors? The forum has been a great help. I appreciate the research you have done. Have you seen many silver 64's with this type of interior colors?

Thanks again.

F18= February 18th if it is a St Louis body or June 18th if it is an A O Smith body.

Look at the BODY and see if it is a "S" or "A".

Hello Matt
The question F18? This is the body build date. Chevrolet has started to have body built in St. Louis and A O Smith in Michigan.
What is your body number?
F for ST Loius: January 1964 (F18 = Friday January 18)
F for A O Smith: June 1964 (F18 = Thursday June 18)
Chevrolet offered 2 silver interior combos.
silver with black
Silver with dark blue
What is the complete info on the trim tag?
Build date = F18
Style = 64 837 (coupe)
Body = A # or S #
Trim = ?
Paint = 940AA
