Tom - the black coupe in that vid (you can't tell from the vid but car was [re]built as an L89) is the same one that showed up in Old Town in Jan 2007 (a few owners later) where it 2nd flighted, as per Doc Rebuild's post above (referencing the "black-black car")

The First 1967 L-89 ?
The first 1967 L-89 Corvette was probably built for Chevrolet engineering in January of 1967. When C&D tested the Black coupe it had been assigned Chevrolet engineering lic plates '13M897'. Two years earlier when Zora introduced the new 396 425HP Corvette (a coupe) to the press it had 1965 engineering lic plates 13M923'. The color of the plates were different each year back then. Does anybody know which month the first 1967 L-88 Corvette was built? Was it also in January? Thanks!

Ouch. Next time, just kick me in the nads.
Nay, Tom was referring to my issues I am having with building my L89 clone and the alum heads. He's been helping me with it, or I've been trying to help him... Whichever way you look at it, it was a friendly stab at my recreation.
Which lately has been dubbed "Christine II" since it's clear she doesn't ever wanted to see the road again.

How many of the Corvette models that were sold with the L-89 aluminum head option still exist today? There was the Goodwood Green ex Ed Cole coupe offered recently. Also someone in Florida had a pair of L-89 coupes for sale in Marina Blue and also Yellow some time ago. Jerry Heasley found a Red L-89 convertible using a reverse serial number search. The current owner was not aware of the history for that Corvette...
Seem to remember something about a Tuxedo Black L-89 coupe in PA or MA.
Can any of the experts add to the list of L-89 factory 1967 Corvettes that still exist today? Thank you.

Hello Charles,
I have been doing research on these Corvettes for over 25 years.
I have documentation on 9 of these. Todate 11 real cars break down
(5) coupes and (6) convertibles. The other (5) are out there.
That is all for NOW.
Regards,
Drew Papsun

I kinda picked up on that from our thread a week or so ago and where you described how he drove those cars. That was a great thread too.

"per Chevrolet documents, the L89 option was not released for dealer ordering until March 16th 1967. (Chevrolet-Mailgram and Denver Zone Distribution Newsletter) -- reprinted in Vette Vues Magazine, Oct '92."

Also, in the April 1967 Chevrolet News, they responded to dealers that were asking what tuning specs to use on the L88. The reply was to use those for the 427/425 that was in the '67 Passenger Service Manual, except for a change in timing spec's.

Chick,
That's some awesome eye candy!!! That's great we have #23 and #24 too.
How's your project coming along? (sorry to hijack this thread, but it was dug up from a long time ago.)
Here's some inspiration... I've clocked probably 500 miles, atleast, on the 67 and that's with some really crappy weather over the past 3 months. She's soooo freaking impressive, I get a smile everytime just thinking about it. I've given several people rides in her, and she always leaves a lasting impression.

thanks Rob! Looks a lot better now with the Eric Jackson restored carbs. The intake and carbs in the pic were off a 68 unit I had as the 67 intake/carbs were scattered. Project as before mentioned has been dead in the water due to the house addition. Started house thing early July and never thought it would be March of next year and still not finished. Getting close but kills the plan to have the car finished by spring. By the smiles and lasting impressions (no doubt in my mind) you described it would seem that you are very happy with the roller cam picked. Anything you would do different with cam, etc....? I'd love to take a ride in it for sure. You have one great sweet ride Rob and wipe that grin off your face!
We had our own in December, with the birth of our 2nd daugther. I still managed to get some seat time in the 67, so sleep deprived or not, I am still able to enjoy the vette some. So no complaints at all.
The invite is still open, anytime you're in the area, stop by. It would be great to meet in person, and show you the cars.
Rob
