Did all cars in CA come with AIR in 66? Mine is a 66 coupe but does not have AIR. If all came with it, then I know my car did not originate from CA. Last 6 of serial number is 107670.

I have a "Car Shipper" on S116645 a 66 4speed car and there is the following
2K19EA EXHAUST EMISSION EQ $44.75
The copy of the shipper is laying on top of the GM order form and you can see K19 checked in the box but I cannot see all of what it says... other than the word REACTOR ,Registration Only .. I have a 67 CORVETTE DEALER ORDER form and it is different but says K19 GM Air Injector Reactor (califonia Vehicle Registration Only) though I cannot see the whole area on the 66 form I would have to say based on what I do see it says much of the same. But there is something on the 66 that indicates the K19 was for specific engines...what motor do you have ?
Because your car does not have it on doesn't mean it was once not there... the very first order of business when I was a kid was to take that stuff off and throw it in the dumpster.....now... we spend our time trying to find those parts so we can put them back on. Another example of coming fullcircle in life

1966 Corvettes delivered new in California had to have K-19 (A.I.R.), except the L-72; K-19 engines all have unique pad stamp suffixes, as the engines were different assemblies from the engine plant. HH, HR, HD, KH, IM, and IR suffix engines all had K-19.

Sorry about not answering sooner. I am in the process of moving to my new home and I lost track of the thread. To answer your questions. My car is a 390 HP. I bought it in 1979. The car had been sitting since 1972 as far as I know. When I pulled the engine to rebuild it, it still had the original non-AIR exhaust on it. Usually when they pulled the AIR they simply filled the holes in the manifolds with plugs. My manifolds do not have that provision.
Thanks again for any help. I have been trying to trace the car history but no success yet.
Steve
PS. I just read JohnZ's addition to the thread. At this point I guess I can rule out the CA possibility as the original sales state for my car. I kind of think it came out of CO but no way for me to get information as far as I know. I tried the CO DMV with no success. I have tried a couple of Vette clubs in CO with no success, so looks like I am at a dead end.

BigChevyThunder - I see you're in Burlingame. Of the 4 midyear Coupes we've owned (2-65's, 2-66's), only one of them was locally sold. It was a Blue 65 300 horse Coupe, PG with A/C (VIN #7739) and we bought it back in the early 90's via Ed Cordero Chevrolet in Pacifica. The sales manager was doing a favor for the daughter of the 'Gusts' who, if I'm remembering it correctly, owned The Moonraker and Nicks restaurants on the coast. Found out it was originally shipped to Dick Bullis Chevrolet in Burlingame. I sold it in 2002.

Not sure if the place is stil called the "Moonraker" but I know nicks is still there. Remember Ed Cordero and "Dick Bullis" sounds familiar but maybe that name is not quite 100% correct...
Some of the people who PM's me your mail boxes are full so if you do not hear back form me just drop me another PM
