Default C2 Gas sender tool

Have found a few interesting threads on C2 gas gauge issues, thought I would share them:
Sender Replace
Sender quality
Sender detail checks
Sender quick check

Verified my sender is bad. Believe it was replaced with the tank by previous owner's body off. Looks new. The sender to battery is open, to ground looks good. Believe I have sufficient info to replace it now.

Questions:
Should I purchase the tool? Seems like a good idea to have the correct tool.
Where can I get it?
Have seen many have issues with re-pro sender units. Any feedback on the "true Delco"? One thread indicates the stamps are missing, seems a major oversight on Delco's part, wonder if they are simply over priced re-pro. Re-pro cost around $80, Delco over $200, would expect an exact replacement for that price. Curious if the quality really is better.

Thanks!!

As stated by 65 Ragtop You can do it without the tool, but for the couple of bucks it costs it makes life easier. I prefer to use the tool on this one.

I just replaced mine (no tool) with a repo from Corvette Central (~$80) I believe it was from Tiawan?? but I checked it out (both ohm meter and with gauge) prior to install and it works just fine.

If you don't have tool make sure you have brass punch

I've used this one for 40+ years

Default No tool

I agree with the "no tool" group. While having the right tool is always nice, in the case of the fuel sender rings I've always used a small hammer and the wood handle of a detail brush to knock the ring free. I'd use a hammer and a brass drift if I had one of those, but the wood handle of a detail brush and a hammer has worked just fine for me.

Beginning to think the improvised tool is the way to go. Been searching for the correct tool, finally found this:
http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...J-42219-B.html
$225 for that????!!!!!!!!
I purchased the correct tool to remove the headlight switch from Keen for about $8. It's a heavy duty piece of steel. Had used the old needle nose a few times and the nut showed it. The correct tool works great, made me a believer in finding the correct tool but not at $225 for a piece of stamped sheet metal.

LIC Section 55, item 32, the "tool" - all of $15 (note the LICS min CC order of $20 will require you to have some other minor ****, etc. on your order.)

yeah, I've only used mine twice, but have lent it out too!

I love that. I have one like it for my all around tool handy for a variety of problems. (lol)
