Default 1967 327/300 Engine Pics

Hi all, I am wondering if someone could post some detailed pics of the top of a correct 327/300 engine/carb/intake manifold (with the air filter assembly off). My car didn't have the correct carb on it, so I have purchased one, but I need to see the layout of the vaccuum advance line, gas line, crankcase vent line, remote choke and the back of the intake manifold (mine has a fitting for the crankcase vent line, but I believe it is supposed to attach directly to the new carb) Does the original layout have a plug in the manifold where mine has a fitting? I haven't gotten around to buying a restoration manual... I know I need to! Thanks!

I can help you in a roundabout way. My engine is a 327/300 with an L-79 (327/300) intake but the carb is the same on both motors as are most of the fittings. My car has Powerglide and the L-79 did not so there are a couple of add-on items.

This pic shows crankcase vent (connects to bottom of air filter housing), PCV in oil fill tube, and the fuel line.

Here you see PCV line to carb, vacuum advance, crankcase vent rubber hose to air cleaner base, and choke. The fitting at the back of the intake is for vacuum to transmission vacuum modulator and power brakes.

Here is the carb in the raw state.

Default Thanks!

Thanks guys! That is exactly what I needed. JohnZ's pics confirmed that I can just plug the hole at the rear of the manifold (with the correct plug of course). As soon as I figure out how, I will post pics of what mine looks like now. Best regards.

OK,
1. Get rid of that rubber gas-line with filter. It is a fire hazard. The filter on the Holley is in the carb intake snout.

2. The PCV goes to the carb to burn crankcase gases, not the intake manifold vacuum port.

3. The distributor vacuum advance is not connected! How do you do timing?

I agree !!! Notice in the other pics the correct steel fuel line to the carb. Get rid of that rubber and fire bomb filter. Purchase the correct line or have someone bend you up one of steel.

Thanks guys... I do intend on fixing these issues... This is how the car was when I bought it... I wanted to show you the "before" pictures. I'll post the "after" pictures once I have everything back to correct. Thanks again!

One more question (at least for now)... I notice in the catalogs that a baffle plate is supposed to be used in between the carb and the manifold... does the baffle mate directly to the carb and the gasket goes in between the baffle and the manifold? No gasket between the carb and the baffle? Thanks!

Here are the pics of the motor cleaned of the old carb, etc., and a couple with the correct 3810. I also plugged the crossover holes as outlined in http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1679095
