Frame Dipping in WI
I did a search but was unable to find my question answered so here goes:
- I have decided to acid dip my frame and I would like advice / suggestion on who to take it to. There is a place in Franklin, WI called restoration specialists and I believe there is another place near Great Lakes Dragway called RediStrip.
Has anyone used either one of these companies and if so, do you have any opinons? I have not been able to contact RediStrip in Racine area that is near the dragstrip, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Scott

I had my '64 frame stripped at the place in Union Grove about 4-5 years ago. At the time it was called Strip Rite, and I thought it still was. I knew the owner and they did good work. Since then it changed hands and I do not know how the quality is anymore, but I would assume it would be about the same as before. I do know they used to have a relationship with a powdercoat place in Burlington who did great work called Motorsports Powdercoat. The guy came out and picked up the frame after it was stripped and powdercoated it right away. For the frame, control arms and other misc. brackets stripped and coated, the price was around $1100-1200. I do not know anything about the place in Franklin.
I would only advise that wherever you go, make sure you get the same parts back that you brought in. I've heard of many cases where parts get mixed up. Double check the stampings, markings, or numbers.
I hope this helps.

Scott, I had my Elcamino frame done at restoration specialists, and they are still in business? I had my frame done roughly 25 years ago. I guess that could be a good thing, seeing that they're still in business.
