Default JE Pistons for 283, 327, 396, 427 available

JE Pistons has teamed up with the NHRA to provide stock replacement
pistons which are Legal or NHRA Stock Eliminator Class....
The JE part numbers for these pistons are at the following link:

http://www.jepistons.com/cat/je/auto/nhra/nhra.shtml

Although it appears from the site that these pistons aren't sitting on
a shelf...I don't believe there would be any set up cost involved as
there may be when ordering a custom set of pistons... the
NHRA approved JE/Chevy pistons have part numbers..so I assume their
mfg information is already keyed in to JE's CNC machines.

Appears that you just call JE and have them make a set for you...
sweet....

Default JE Pistons

I put a set of JE flat top pistons in the '66 on a rebuild that we are just now getting on the road. So far i am real happy. What my engine man and I was trying to do is to get it to run on 93 pump gas. So far it's working.
The part number is 262522, I did not see this number on there web site so I assume it was a custom order. The time it took them to get us the parts did not hold us up.

Over the years, we have bought pistons from a number of people for our blown alcohol dragster. Once we tried the JE pistons, we stuck with them, as they have a great product.

I had a set of .070 FI pistons custom made for 57 #3963 . The block had run Bridgehampton in 57. The original block was lost due to overreving at Watkins Glen. I sent them a 61 FI piston for dome configuration and got the finished set within three weeks . The new pistons weighed 85 grams less than stock. JE is good to work with.

I am surprised that JE does not list a 327 piston for the 62-65 SHP engine, only the 300hp and the 66-67 350hp SHP engines. It's also interesting that these somewhat normal compression ratio 327 pistons are not listed with the other catalog piston choices for the 327.

Is the 66-67 SHP (350hp) piston & dome identical to the 62-65 SHP piston (5.3cc)?

JE has a very nice facility. One of the machine rooms (rings or wristpins) is cleaner than most research laboratories, with an environment that is held to temp & humidity variations as tight as an aerospace measurements lab. The quality that is a result of this discipline in housekeeping should be no surprise.
