YA they say it hit just off the coast. Is it time to buy future shore front property on the east side of the San Andreas? Hope that was your last one for a while.

Maybe. Be sure and get your Vette out of that garage. I would hate to see it as fodder for the 6 o'clock news.

FUNNY!!!. 1 story houses never fall down besides that, how can you tell if a quake is coming? afterwords it's to late. i rode out the 89 quake in SF, now that was fun, it made my hair stand on end-->

My mom in Redding did not feel it. I felt my first earthquake in 1999 during thanksgiving at my parents house. I used to deliver furniture to people who transplanted from the bay area or la area to Redding. They would ask me to mount the top of the china cabinets. I would ask "What for? We do not have earthquakes up here!". The small earthquake sounded like a train going through the house. All I could think about was all of the top of the china cabinets falling down.

I live in Eureka and we are so used to these things that a 6. quake is nothing. When it gets to 7 then you get a little excited. I have two corvettes on lifts right now and they didn't move a bit.

While we on the west coast are more experienced with earthquakes, the rest of the country is not immune to them. There are plenty of fault lines running thru out this country and they will let loose at some point in time. At least out west we view the many quakes as relieving pressure so as to hopefully avoid a catastrophic event. Hopefully.

*1 My home at the time was 12 miles from the 1989 Loma Prieta quake epicenter. A filing cabinet turned over and a bottle of pancake syrup fell on the floor.

Quick earthquake tip...
Use rolling storage. I have all my storage & tools in my garage on rolling shelves. When we had the 6.4 quake, not 1 item was out of place. the shelving just rolled and took the shock.
I guess closed doors works too
