vacuum connections on holley
this is a picture of my holley 4160.
there is only one available vacuum connection that i can see, that is the ported vacuum connection that is currently running to dist vacuum advance. this is fine for when i run my emissions test in a week or so, but i wanted to connect to manifold vacuum after the test for regular driving. I don't see a manifold vacuum connection on the carb. All the carbs i've ever had, had multiple available connections.

Gary, not sure from that pic but it looks like you do have the vacuum hose hooked to a low enough vacuum port for manifold vacuum. When the engine is running at idle and you pull that hose, do you hear the engine falter or rise in rpm? Is there any vacuum being pulled at that port at idle? If so, you're on manifold vacuum. Again, can't be sure from that pic. Ported vacuum 'ports' are typically higher up on the carb body. By the way, for clarification purposes, what is the list number of your carb? It should be on the front of the choke/butterfly housing facing forward. This is the number you'd use when buying a kit or any parts for it, although a lot of parts for Holleys are interchangeable.

list is 3367
Mike, so if this is manifold vacuum, where the heck is the ported vacuum connection. I will need to pass our provincial emissions test for the hc.
thanks mike.

Hey Gary, There is no ported vacuum tube (or port) on the #3367 Holley. They only used the one manifold vacuum takeoff right where yours is connected. In short, you've got it hooked up the only way it should be hooked up. They can't require you to hook it up differently since that (ported) was never the original configuration. As long as your connections are stock and your timing is withing range (plus or minus 3 degrees of factory setting in California) you should be in good shape.

Full Time Vacuum Port
If that nipple on the side is ported vacuum, and you're looking for full time vacuum, just tee into the hose that supplies the choke vacuum break diaphragm. That fitting has full time vacuum.

Canada requires emission testing on a 41-year-old car? Is that a federal or provincial requirement?

JohnZ,
yes, this is a provincial (BC) emissions test. yes, all vehicles are required to pass this test (called Air Care). On my other '72 vette, I had to connect the carb vacuum connection to ported vacuum to pass, so i wanted to do the same with my '66 i just bought, so not quite sure what to do.

Gary,
I'm surprised to read that British Columbia has emissions testing. Ontario does not for a car that old. I wonder what standards they are using because I don't recall any being in place in the 1960s in Canada.

Ported vacuum
I have a 1964 , 327 cu. in., 365 H.P. with a Holley 2818-1 carb [4150 series] , vacuum advance dist., I called up Holley tech. line asked them if I had ported vac. or full vac. on that particular carb. and they said it was ported. And thats the original set up from the factory. The port is on the right side up high near the plug to check the gas level in the bowls. There is no other connection for full vac. on that carb.

driver68, it appears from your photo that you have a brass manifold vacuum source between the carb and the distributor. Just tee into that hose source or purchase a new brass fitting that has an additional hose fitting. That should give you the manifold vacuum you desire for everyday driving. Plastic vacuum tees of different sizes can be had at any GOOD local auto supply store. Good luck.
