fuel filter for 64 327 Ac gf 90 or gf 99?
63 swc with 1964 engine . It has a black ac fuel filter marked gf 99, The catalogs for ecklers, corvette central list a gf 90 as the filter available. Will the gf 90 substitute for the gf 99 ? The silver repros are 18 to 20 dollars , the black ac gf 90 is about 50. I suspect tank debris due to intermittent fuel problems.

gas filter
My car came with the correct black filter GF-90 ,[1964,L76]. I didn't want to pay that much money for the black filter so I bought the silver one , I figured I would just paint the silver one black. It wasn't that easy, the silver one had the correct 1/8" pipe fittings, but the case diameter is 1/8" larger, the original clamp was too small and the silver one would not go into it . The silver filter came with the correct larger clamp for it in the filter box. Also where the clamp bolts to the intake manifold , I had to grind down the metal on the new clamp so it would fit [ it was too wide] . Just so you know ahead of time.

My recollection is the GF 99 is a Corvair Spider fuel filter. I think it has a nipple on it for a return line. You can use the 99 if you solder the nipple shut.
The GF 90 is correct for your car.

Thanks Loves vettes and Mikem
Mike, The gf99 does have a soldered return nipple. Lovesvettes, I may get the silver gf 90 and Thanks for the installation tips. Since I cleaned the teflon out of the carb inlet fitting (As per my other thread ? )it has run fine so maybe the old black ac will stay .
