Default No C2 was hurt in making this

I have a progress post on the C3 forum but thought I would share with the c2 guys too. I wanted something unique and I like to work with my hands. A LOT of work ahead but I've already done a lot. Obviously a C3 with C2 body panels. The rear is aftermarket. No worries about harming anything original except for a 77 vette that it will be many many years before it is a true collectors item. Always open to criticism, ideas, and encouragement. Didn't clean it up for the pics because daylight after work is short.
Thanks,
Scott

Different. There is a 77 in my area that has a C2 coupe rear glass and window trim. Actually looks nice.

I like the "duck tail" rear end more than I would have thought. But then that is what is on my '61 from the factory !

One thing that is kind of strange is the bottom of the C2 back end behind the rear wheel is so much higher than the lowest part (rocker molding area) in front of the rear wheel. Kinda of throws off the lines - but if you make the rear lower than it is it will look like the back of a school bus. Not sure what you could do about that.

Hey with all the restorods and custom jobs out there, I think it looks neat and has great potential. And I am not a fan of odd ball customs. Keep up the work and lets see progress. I like the concept and the potential look!

I copied a post from when he came up with this idea. This was a response from one the members who thought he wouldn't be able to complete his original idea.

Nice to see your project coming along

I would have never thought it would look good but it does.

I like it!

I wonder what it would look like with sidepipes?

I like the T-tops, the door window(no vent window) and no upper door.

Hood scoop ain't bad but I think a C-2 stinger hood might be better. Lines would match with the back side of the pillars (rear window surround).

I applaud you to take on such a project. The rear looks good. The sail panels, when done and blended will look great also. The front may not be as difficult as it looks.

Stretching the front lower fender area will be easy. That's the great thing about fiberglass!

Keep us posted! Your'e doing good work!

I like it also. I usually wouldn't go for a Mod Rod approach on a Vette but your doing a nice job. Al W.

I personally really like it. When I first started college I saw an old project that was never finished. A 1969 cowl back with a 78-82 glass window grafted in. From there I sketched a car I wanted to build one day. A 1963-67 front end on a 1978-82 Corvette body with a 1969 rear...I like chrome bumpers. This takes it a step further with the 1963-67 rear as well. Looks good, can't wait to see how it ends up.

This looks cool. I recently saw a C2 coupe with a C3 front end at Bob's Big Boy Restaurant car show in Burbank, CA. Now that looked like an unusual mutant. This one looks more pleasing to the eye.

I wondered how this was coming along, nice to see good progress. I dig it. I used to do this kinda stuff with my model cars when I was a kid, cool that you're doing it for real.

I would have thought that the idea was horrible, but I have to say I like it! The back kinda reminds me of one of the Grand Sports. Very cool - please keep us updated.
