Hmmm, interesting 67 L89 at BJ
A black 67 with red stinger is set to go accross the block at BJ in AZ in Jan:
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...LotNumber=1327
Other BJ literature I have seen claims this is an L89.
I have seen a few black w/ red stinger 67 L89s:
1. The Ronald MacDonald auction car from a few years back
2. Dennis' (Midyear) nicely done "re-creation" (the CAC debacle car)
3. One that was being sold (or shown?) at Atlantic City a few years back (CF thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1319644 post #33 and below)
Now, when I blow up the engine pic from the BJ listing, I think that this is the 194677S111876 Black w/ red stinger "L89" car from the Atlantic City show in 2006. As I pointed out then, there was another 67 with that same VIN, a 300 hp Marina Blue 3sp, to be exact, that had been up on ebay around that time. Guess what? That 300 hp marina blue 67 with that VIN is up on ebay again right now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...QQcmdZViewItem
If I get out to BJ in Jan (depends on the schedule of some pals) I'll look at the pad and VIN tag on this 67 L89; if it's 194677S111876.
If you're gonna fake up an L89, at least avoid a VIN that's out there on another car

Very interesting. I'd luv to eyeball that VIN at BJ to see this for myself. If it is the same, he's a member of the Dum & Dummer Club.
How ya' doin' Jackster? Christmas was good, I hope!
Would've looked you up at BJ's in January but it's just not in the cards with Mary on the mend. For sure, next year (2009). Have to settle for the Speed coverage. Got that book from BJ's. There's a ton of cars they're going to process thru their auction. But, like others have said, BJ's is not the only auction house in town.

Hmmm. 91 1/2 score???? Lemme see that would be uh! 383 point deduction. Don't believe that it will set any dollar records at BJ.
I looked at that car in FL. Believe it had a "problem" or two

Just why?
I can't imagine why anyone would buy either of those '67's until the true owner of that particular VIN is confirmed to a legal certainty and the other "undocumented" car is... uh... removed from circulation.

I'll be there, so expect plenty of pad photos afterwards.
The high dollar cars are sometimes hard to photo as they are roped off from peons like me who can't afford to bid, but I will especially try for these cars.

well, I really hope the Black BJ L89 Coupe car isn't showing a 194677S111876 VIN, because that's a Vert sequence
here it is on a 67 300 hp Vert:
hope to not see it on the 67 Coupe at BJ
By the way, I just remembered that Black L89 from AC was also discussed on the NCRS TF, here's that chat:

Blow the pad up in photo edit and it looks like 7119687or2 ? That's what it looks like to me anyway. Anyone else? Looking again I guess 9086 might work?

In any event, I wonder about it's L89 legitimacy . . .

I think I see what you see. The full VIN quote comes from the placard displayed in front of this car (?) when it was being shown in AC last year, as I said in one of those other threads I linked perhaps the owner or poster-shop wrote the VIN down wrong on the placard.

Lot# 240S
High Bid: $0.00
PASSED
1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L89
****FEATURE CAR**** This 1967 L89 is 1 of 16, #'s matching, and is documented with the original factory tank sticker. It has a full NICB Report & MSO of original selling dealer & owners' history. As documented in Vette Views - 427/435 HP - 4-SPEED MANUAL – VIN 194377S119682
******************************
oh, and by the way, THAT IS DENNIS'S CAR, the CAC car, the controversy, the drama . . . . . the NICB and MSO should have given it away, it's all coming back to me now . . . wonder which tank sticker is being used . . . . nice to see a car that was an [eventually] admitted recreation now refusing to be sold at $400,000. Wonder how she'll do at BJ? Doesn't anyone do their homework anymore?

yeah, although Dennis long ago owned up to it, and said he sold it with full disclosure (although the "supporting" docs seemed to have accompanied the car). I think that car has been through at least 3-4 hands since then, although I suspect the current owner must have a suspicion as to the car's legitimacy.
here's the car at Carlisle 2005 when Dennis still owned it:
oh well, what's another restamped 67 BB anyway . . .
Brett - I'd link up some REAL tasty stuff from the CAC a few years back on this very car (huge brawl, to put it mildly, me kinda involved ) but the CAC vanished the threads.

I'm trying to keep up, but...
There is a black '67 "L-89" coupe that has the same VIN (#11876) as a blue '67 300hp convertible, but that coupe is not coming up for auction in January. Yes? No?
The fake L-89 black '67 coupe that we all discussed on that other forum (#19682) is coming up for auction again in January, and is being touted as real. Yes? No?
The guy named Dennis who squealed like a libeled pig when confronted about the fake paperwork has now "long ago owned up to it". Yes? No? I thought he was going to quit the Corvette "hobby" over his internet treatment.
