Red Interior?? Pics please
My 64 is triple black.
Was considering changing the interior to red or a combination thereof.
Maybe leave the dash pads black and do seats, carpet and door panels red???
I would like to see some pics if anyone has done a combination of these red and black colors in their interior.
Thanks

you know what a neat thing to do if you are good at building models. just go out and buy a model like your car, and then paint things the way you want to see your car. it works great.

Yup.. Just like that.
That looks sweet and would probably not be as hot ( in South Florida) as a set of black seats would be.
I may replace the dash pads too.
Is the center part of the dash difficult to replace?
I already have the cluster, glove box, radio, clock and speaker out of the car.

However, the pictures are about 4 meg each and too large for my web hosting site.
I have four in particular that I will send if you send me a private message with an email address so I can send directly.
You might consider a red dash along with the rest of the interior. The red dash against the black instrument panel and glove compartment is very striking.
Let me know if you would like the pictures.

Normally removing the dash is a PITA, but you have most of the work done already.
Have you considered doing the same but with a silver/black combination? Door panels, visors and armrest would be silver. Very classy looking

To remove the dash you have to drill out the 5 rivets in each door jam. Remove the molding at the rear of the dash at the windshield and take out the bolts that are under that molding. You will probably have to loosen or remove the inside windshield post trim to get that molding out. The last thing to do is use a chisel to break the bond of the center dash section at the bottom console area where it meets the trans hump. It may be bonded on each side as well as the front bottom where it touches the console trim. Use a mirror to look into the area where the radio was removed and you'll be able to see the bonding points. The dash can then be removed.
It's much easier to remove the special clips that hold the pads to the dash if you remove the whole dash. Some of the clips in the middle section are a real PITA to get to if you don't remove the dash but it can be done.

This is my 56 interior. The 56-7 ONLY came with Venitian Red or Shoreline Beige, nothing else. I have a complete Al Knoch interior which is all correct material, EXCEPT, I had Al cut/stitch black Daytona weave carpet for me several years ago (56-58 carpet was Daytona weave, but black was not available until 58). I painted the dash and upper door metal black (I used to have a black 57 Chevy with the red/black interior and always loved it!). And then he threw in some red Daytona weave floor mats.

I like the red seats and door panels idea.
Leave the dash black and the carpets black. Then go with two-tone door panels, red on top with the black lower trim. Red arm rests, sunvisors, center pad and rear deck trim to complete.
Would look mighty sharp and very easy to revert back to original if you needed to.

Vinyl dye
You might consider using vinyl dye to change the color rather than installing a new dash.
The vinyl dye is available at a lot of Corvette parts houses.
I have used the dye on my interior and am pleased with the result. My dash however was red to start and I used the red dye. I wouldn't expect a problem covering up black with the dye.
Hope the be above helps.

Thanks again
Thank you for all the replies and the pics.
I think I will go with the black dash (so it stays original) and just change the seats door panels and carpet to red, keeping the center console and center armrest black. That way I can change it back to triple-black without having to pull the dash apart.
I may do a combo red/black on the door panels.
I am assuming that Al Knoch does custom work in this matter.
Are there any other manufacturers that offer custom upholstery work?
Or I may be able to find a local upholstery shop that will do this type of work.

I saw in one of the Al Knock catalogs a special they made where the center of the cushion and seatback were red and the rest was black. Did the same half and half on the door panels too. Looked very nice.
