Default 180cc or 200cc heads??

On a 327, would i be better off using the 180 or the 200cc heads?? Just assume that i will have 10:1 compression by the end of this. Camshaft has 227/233 duration and .498/.502 lift.
Thanks!

Is this with the dished pistons or a completely new setup?

Which heads specifically are you thinking about?

180's on 327 and under cubic inches... rough rule of thumb is
1cc of port volume for every 2 cubic inches..

No need to have a soggy motor from another perspective..

Get the Brodix IK180's and I'd suggest dumping the Lunati race cam for a GM profile to work with the exhaust manifolds.

170 intake would also be fine. I ran the Edelbrock 64cc aluminum RPM heads on my 350 in my hot rod with a nice cam and made over 400hp.

I think I would go 180 also....unless you plan on running WFO most of the time. What intake you plan on using?

Dart Platinum 49cc heads. They are the smallest cc heads that i can find to correct the dished pistons.

Are you referring to the Pro 1 Platinum's? I have a set of 64 cc straight plug Pro 1 Platinum heads for my dished piston 383. They are a good looking set of heads. The machining is cleaner than the Edelbrock heads I was considering. I went with the 180 CC heads because it was a street engine, for my 72 truck. Personally, I would stay away from a 49CC combustion chamber, if the 64 CC head would get you to 9:1 or better.

BTW, my dished piston 383 ran like a raped ape with the same Lunati 268 Voodoo cam, 1970 #186 heads, through a low-rise GM intake. The wheel spin was so violent that it was hard to keep the back end from coming around... that was through a stock TH350 with a stock converter. However, my car had a set of 1 5/8" headers, 2 1/2" exhaust, and the cam was ground on a 112* LS.

Good luck with getting your engine squared-away.

Scott, been busier than a one legged man. I'll have to send you an email to you later. You?

BTW, the Bakersfield track rental I paid for in January was cancelled due to wind damage to timing system (Of course this was cancelled after I drove to Bakersfield (through some snow, top down and booked a room). The re-scheduled track rental was rained-out. Then rescheduled for Sunday 24 Feb.

It rained all day in the Valley, the net said it was raining in Bakersfield (in the hour by hour) forecast. Couldn't get ahold of the guy promoting (he even started a second thread earlier this week, which he didn't bother to respond to), and the track was on a answering machine... anyway, they raced, and I, along with about 30 other guys lost our share of the track rental fees. Oh well, a shop comes on the on the forum to promote an event, you buy-in in good faith, and you get what you pay for.

Sorry to the OP for going off topic.
