1970-'72 ZR1 - 53 produced - value $125K to $200K (few exist)
1971 LS6 - 188 produced - value $125K to $200K (not hard to find)
footnotes:
A) must be the real deal... not fakes or frauds
B) Colors (Black) adds a lot... must be factory original body/trim tag
C) Original documentation, history, and Bloomington/NCRS show awards adds a lot
D) Original rare options adds a lot (set of Kelsey bolt-on wheels and red stripe tires sold on eBay in '06 for $33K)
E) Original, unrestored in excellent condition adds a lot.
F) Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware). We are adrift in a sea of sharks disguised as mermaids.
G) When it is time to sell... be a smart seller. High-profile events like the Barrett-Jackson and Mecum Muscle Car auctions will get you more money for your car than newspaper and trade publication advertisements. Plan ahead if you’re considering selling your baby: seek good lot numbers (pay a premium if you must) and baby-sit your car during the event to answer questions and show pride in your car – it is a reflection of you, and people simply pay more if they like the seller.
A-E Equals an overall package and desirables.

Much of information is based on writer's personal knowledge and prices achieved at high profile public auctions. Watch next month for Terry's B-List (The Affordables)

50th Anniversary Collections Invited to 2008 Spring Chevy Vette Fest... It is another feather in the cap for the collection of collections. ProTeam's "Lucky 39s" and "Bad Boys" are going to be showcased at the Spring 2008 Chevy VetteFest held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois on April 5th-6th. The "Lucky 39's" features three Corvettes with the same VIN #39; a show quality '53 roadster, a 50th anniversary '03 convertible, and a commemorative GM licensed '53 reproduction child's pedal-car. There are other '53/'03 pairs but none lower than VIN thirty-nine... "Lucky 39's" . The "Bad Boys" are a 1958 and 2008 Corvette with the same production VIN #8189. These cars came off the line 50 years apart in production and boast the best Corvette technology available for their specific years; they were purpose built to be bad . The 1958 is equipped with fuel injection, racing suspension and brakes (1 of 144 produced). The '08 has 505 horses under its hood and 6 miles on the odometer. It shows off the same concours black paint and red interior as its '58 stablemate. Each of these four Corvettes are distinctive in their own right but when partnered with their VIN twin, they are as exquisite as they are rare. These collections will be on display at the 2008 Spring Chevy VetteFest and can be seen anytime online at ProTeamCorvette.com or at ProTeam's Napoleon, Ohio location. For more information on the Chevy Vette Fest go to www.ChevyVetteFest.net

I hear they have sold 800 or 900 '65 fuelies. You can always count on them for "special" cars.

What is it about black cars for the set of rare cars noted above? I can see a black 67 BB being worth more given the rarity of black and the dramatic color offset from the stinger, but not any other black car.

One can question most aspects of ProTeams operation, but I do not question their understanding of the market. If they think black is worth a premium, I am sure they are right! Black is always one of the less popular colors from a production numbers, but one that is now in demand. Maybe that has something to do with it.

ProTeam will tell you that black coupes sell like hotcakes. If you watch their site, the black coupes disappear quickly.

Blast it ! ! ! And to think my 63 coupe was originally black on black and I painted it Polo Green and put saddle guts in it. Shame on me. The value has gone to NOTHING ! !

Mine is an original black car also, but the previous owner
caved in to his wifes demands and painted it red. I hope
to go back to black as soon as I can scrape up the $.
