Default vent window weatherstrip replace

Do you have to take the vent window frame completely apart to replace the weatherstrips? Do all the rivets need to be removed or just enough to get it apart? Thanks for your help.

If I am interpreting your question correctly the answer is no.

Is the unit out of the car?

If so, you merely need to drill out the hinge rivet which is on the outside of the window - it is the link between the vent window frame and the vent window itself. Once you drill it out you can remove the vent window & weatherstrip.

FWIW, the above info. is based upon my recent installation on my 65 Coupe - not sure if the Vert. differs slightly or not.

Default Vent Window Rivet Install (Coupe)

Anyone out there have a slick method for replacing this rivet, without a proper rivet-squeezer tool?

I just did mine and thankfully my friend had the tool. I have heard of people doing it with a ball bearing or beebee, but that's gotta be a bitch.. That rivet ain't soft...
