Default wiring in a hazard flasher?

On my 64, I have a 67 steering column. Which has a hazard switch. Would it work to run a wire from keyed power to one side of a separate flasher, and the other side of flasher to brown wire on the turn signal switch, to make the hazard switch functional? Or is this a recipe for meltdown?

A quick check of the wiring diagram looks like thats the way the original 67 is done.
