Whose car has been off the road the longest?
My friend Ron in Milwaukee in 1974, bought a 1957 aqua C1 with 2 carbs from a Chevy dealer that needed a full restoration, and since that time he has been accumulating parts. He restored the frame in his garage and has had the engine running in frame. Body still needs some work and is not mounted to the frame. He says the only parts he still needs is tires and glass, and to get the body painted. No time frame yet for finished product; but he is not getting any younger after having car for 35 years. I invited him to go with me to Carlisle in 2007 to see what a finished 57 looked like since it was the feature year hoping to motivate him.
So who can beat that ?

my god!!!! in 1974 the 57 vette was just anither used vette, now he has a sought after high dollar classic vette. Tell him if he doesn't get it going soon, there won't be anymore oil left in the world to make gasoline for it. T. Boone Pickens will make in run on Natural Gas though.

The previous owner of my '59 disassembled it in 1972-73 and I purchased it in 2001, still in pieces. Hopefully some time next year it will be drivable again.

Bought my '63 250 hp roadster in 1969...
Drafted in 1971... car went into storage for a short hitch...
April of 2008 we finally pulled the car from storage and it is now undergoing a complete restoration.
Oh it ran 12.7 quarter mile 5 days before I stepped on the "yellow footprints"...

My car was taken off the road in 1978. I bought it in boxes in 1994.... it's still in boxes (but I now have MORE boxes !!!)
I'm afraid I'll be too old to drive it by the time I ever get it built.

I can't beat you, but I purchased my car in 1994 and it had been sitting derelict for nine years before I bought it. Ran out of the garage and back in under its own power for the first time in at least 23 years this past Sunday.

Thanks Seaside. Will be changing injectors this Saturday. Running very rich and exhaust temps are radically different from hole to hole. Not quite ready for prime time, but working on it.

Bought my Black/Red '63 Convertible in 1988 and took it off the road in 1993. Bought my Blue/Tan split window in 1989, drove it twice, and its been off the road since.
The convertible is presently being restored.

in '70 a kid in HS had a big fight with his dad, who, didn't want a piece of junk old car around his house. So my dad let him store it in our barn. It had fire damage and no seats, frankly in 1970, i coundn't see what wayne G saw. Who would ever want a 6cyl 53 vette?
