Replace TACH with electronic guts? For my 60

Andy-
You might be able to do it yourself. I was going to do it for my '58, but it has that darn odometer, so I had Corvette Specialties of Maryland overhaul it and convert it to tach drive. My original plan was to find an Autometer tach that had the same throw as my tach and disassemble it and just put the guts behind my original face. I figured it couldn't be that hard, but you know how that goes!
I did change my ammeter to a voltmeter, but in that case, I kept the Autogage face and dabbed a little black paint over some of their excess markings to make it look more like my original. It came out real well.

When I put a new crate engine with HEI distributor in my 63 Vette, I decided to have the tach converted to electronic. I had mine done by Corvette Instrument Service (corvetteinstrumentservice@att.net) . I did have a little problem with the converted tach, but they took it right back and fixed the problem promptly. So far, so good.

I had my mechanical drive tach in my 57 converted to electronic by Clocks by Roger; I'm using an HEI distributor with an MSD box, everything hooked up easily and works great.

Now the scary part How much did this conversion cost? I have though about finding one about the right size and replacing the original with it but never have. The one done by clocks by roger uses the orignial face and is correctly calibrated?

The conversion by "Corvette Clocks by Roger" was $225.00, parts such as bezels and lenses are extra cost. One thing additional is they charge you 8%
Tennessee sales tax which kinda stinks! The face of the tach is differernt since the revolution counter gets eliminated (may not have one on your 60') but the calibration is right on.
