Default 62 Fuel Injection Help

I have a 62 with the correct fuel injection. I have a problem with the throttle. My gas pedal is sluggish. When I take my foot off the pedal,
the engine rpm is slow to react. Like it is in slow motion. It will eventually idle but takes a second or so.

Not the linkage from bottom of fuel injection to the pedal.

Any ideals would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Jim

my first guess would be that you either have a vacuum leak at one of the nozzle balance hoses or other vacuum connection; OR your reference tube or its connectors from the airmeter intake hose adapter-to-the-fuel pump is loose at the airmeter end or where it goes into the side of the fuel pump, OR your main metering diaphragm is bad.

In addition to Bill's excellent suggestions, you might investigate two other areas:

1. Wear on the Air Meter throttle shaft bushings, in particular the thrust surface just beneath the fast idle cam. Wear here will let the throttle blade drop in the Air Meter bore and drag on the wall as it closes. There are shim kits that you can use to properly recenter the throttle blade.

2. The pull back springs (you DO use dual springs, don't you?) might not be strong enough to overcome the friction of the throttle shaft turning in the Air Meter bushings.

Good luck,

Jim

i agree with Jim... the airmeter linkage does get sloppy, make sure there is a spring to pull the butterfly closed

and one to pull the bellcrank and accelerator linkage back

I will do some checking when I get home. Thank you Bill and Jim for all the suggestions and pictures.

the bellcrank pullback spring attaches to the hole in the bottom of the bellcrank and to a standing bracket towards the rear of the adapter manifold.
