That picture and another of the same car were recently sold on E-bay.

Since the listing on E-Bay said "Original B&W photograph", I assume you were the buyer. Have you found any history on it yet?

Yep, I purchased the pics on ebay. The early Corvette racing gurus have not seen the car before. So I am still looking for leads.

Russ
What track is it on?
What time frame would require that muffler?
What year for the helmet?
Regards

Russ, I have a ton of old Corvette books and I've been scouring through them since seeing
this pic. No luck yet, but I still have many to go through.

Thanks for your help, guys.

Jim Gessner thinks the car might be going from turn 6 to turn 7 at Road America. Jim also thinks that B/Modified came into being in the mid 60s. The tires look pretty skinny however. Thus, I would have dated the photo earlier than the mid-60s

Here is the second photo.

Jim & Russ
Eb Rose was the B/Modified SCCA champion in 1957 with the Bill Mitchell SR-2.

Mike-

My website is non-commercial, but I buy stuff all the time to post on the website. I started finding images I purchased on a commercial website without any attribution, which annoys me a bit. The webmaster of the commercial site was evidently harvesting images off my website for the webmaster's commercial benefit. So I started adding the earlycorvettes.com to my pics. I try to keep it low key. But my software just does it automatically now.

I dont know if this helps but Sputnik V was launched August 19 1960. I would assume....and we all know what that means....that The vette was raced later than that date.

And Sputnik VI was launched December 1, 1960. Might it seem reasonable to believe this car was raced somewhere between these two dates? Otherwise, what would be the point of naming the car Sputnik VI?

The last turns before the pit straight at Watkins Glen are shaped this way, but I believe the intermediate straight is a bit deeper than this one is. Plus Watkins Glen was the premier site for the US Formula 1 racing, and this track looks far too crude to be it in 1960.

The original track at Loudon had a section like this just before the main straight, and since the pictures were eBayed from NH, it might make sense.

Doesn't Putnam Park has a turn like this in it?

Wherever it is, it is cold by the looks of everyone.
