Default Best source for v-belts

Who makes the best quality replacement v-belts for C2's? I have had problems with the local auto parts houses private label belts - they either don't fit very well, or they stretch, and one belt actually flipped over (the factory A/C drive belt on my 67).

Are there some brands that perform better than others?

.

The top brands are Goodyear, Gates, and Dayco... Check your local Automotive Warehouse distributor for brands and where attainable at local stores. The general rule is to avoid the chain stores for quality. However Advance may carry one of these brands.

Best is kinda subjective. "Good enough" isn't: I use whatever belts my local NAPA store sells and they work fine, even on our two track cars (the engines of which see some serious RPM). Never had a problem with the NAPA belts and that's good enough for me.

Default V-Belts

Gates makes belts for NAPA. Gates are my favorite.

Have used NAPA/Gates for over 30 years under all conditions (some difficult) without problems or belt failure.

I've never had a problem with Dayco "Top Cog" belts in high-rpm applications; any belt will have issues if the pulleys aren't properly aligned, and the factory didn't go to the expense of deep-groove pulleys on solid-lifter engines for nothing.

Thanks, everyone - I think I'll try the Gates belts - and I have checked the alignment - everything looks good in that area -

Default Compressor Belt

On my '65 300hp A/C P/S car, I went with NAPA XL25's on the water pump and alternator belts (good product), but the compressor belt needs to be wider -- 15/32 top width.

For that belt, the DAYCO top-cog 15565 was the closest fit. Was glad to read that John H. has had good experience with the top-cogs!
