The MVSS requirement for a defroster was effective for the 1968 model year.

The Chevrolet published rating for the '67 L-88 was 430hp, but it was never advertised, nor was it ever shown as being available on the Corvette order blank - the dealer had to "write it in" manually at the bottom of the form.

Heater MAY have been a factory delete, but I've never seen a C2 dash without the blower speed/defrost and temp *****.
Don Gavel, the "'Vette" salesman at my local Chevy dealer (Selman, Orange, CA) had a dark green '67 demonstrator coupe with L89 and all performance options except big tank. First thing he did was junk the bolt-ons with redlines and install disc brake model Torq Thrusts with Goodyear racing tires.
He also had a candy apple red '54 with similar wheels and tires. He always got applause for wetting his rear tires in a puddle, then flooring the six-cylinder and getting a teeny "chirp" from the wide Blue Streaks!
One of my cars is radio delete, the plain center panel looks kind of racy!

when ordered without a heater where the ***** would be the dash had a two plastic (I think) push in plug. and I believe the defroster outlet on top was left alone. you can see many pics of this setup in Nolan Adams book

That is so funny. I read a comment by Zora when he and a friend strolled through a vette gathering that kinda went like this, "dam Jim, if I had known we were gonna make this many, I would have gotten one for myself". Talking about L88's no doubt.

Never too old to learn something. Thanks for the info and pictures!
The "plugged" car still has heater vents on the vertical console sides. Who can come up with the best use for them? Chewing gum storage?
