C2 ECL code Decode
A while back I put together a Trim Tag Decoder ===>> Click Here without any breakdown of the ECL codes due to the complexity of the thousands of variations.
Well, with the cold weather I went back and attempted an ECL decoder. It is available off of the original Trim Tag Decoder page (above) or directly ===>> Click Here.
Now for some disclaimers
As there wasn’t an consistent year-to-year strategy or approach when these vehicles were built. The ECL codes changed not only yearly but multiple times during model years. But the biggest hindrance was the plants (St. Louis & A.O. Smith) didn’t always follow standards nor did they have any consistency. Many discrepancies occurred from manual tasks resulting in ECL codes that did not match the actual vehicle and/or no ECL codes on trim tag. A.O. Smith built bodies, if they have trim/ECL code, will in most instances fail decoding. The decoder works only if all information was correct at the factory. So if it doesn’t work for your tag you will need to investigate with use of other publications.
Remember these tags and their Trim/ECL codes may or may not match the “STANDARD TABLES” of the day.
*** Built using MS Front Page & Tested on MS IE 7 --- No access to other browsers --- So it may or may not work with them ***
Notes
(1) Body Build date is the date on the Trim Tag not the Birth Date derived from the VIN tag.
1963 Build Date – Day portion is week of month 1-6
1964-67 Build Date – Day portion is 1-31
(2) After you get a breakdown of the ECL codes to interpret the options code just hover your cursor over the option for a description.
(3) As always if you find ACTUAL descripency let me know.

What browser are you using?
I built web pages with MS Front Page w/JavaScript and only have access to MS IE 7 where it works.

George I'm using FireFox 2.0.0.20 and get the same error.
I've seen discrepancies in the past between IE's and Mozilla's implementation of Javascript, we even had to write special code that checked the browser agent before executing the Javascript.

Make some minor code changes.
Give in another try, if you get error do "REFRESH" to get latest copy and give it another try.
