Default What amazed me at barrett jackson

Hi Guys
Well had a great time at the auctions. You would think after plunking down a good amount of money on a car the new owner would by a car cover for it when it goes outside. The dust on the cars outside is pretty bad. That 59 vette that sold for around $200,000 had a good amount of dust& dirt on it .Plus all the people& children touching the cars.Bob W

It's funny how they push the cars around with those little white gloves on ....... guess they don't want to mess up any of that NOS dust Pilot Dan

Yeah - I couldn't help wondering how many trunk lids and chrome trim pieces they dent pushing on sheet metal like that.

I've sold some nice Corvettes and other cars at Auction and what always amazed me is that the new owners never tried to meet me and ask about the car . I sold a 57 Corvette years ago with out the hard top on it ,left it where the vett sat and again because the new owner never came to meet me to tell him I have the hard top I took it home and sold it for another 2K.

I wonder what would happen if they were pushing it off stage by the spoiler and it broke off...

I'm planning on doing the Mecum auction in St. Charles, Illinois in early October. It should be quite a thrill. To date, I have only done the RM auctions in Toronto, which are fine; however, the cars are not anywhere near Mecum or BJ standards.

I did, the last three times in fact. I saw a bunch of guys getting her to sign stuff (like a picture of her, or the 5 lb program I lugged around with me) but I couldn't bring myself to ask her to sign something - that seemed kinda stalker-ish or something

She has a pretty way about her when you meet her in person, although I agree she isn't stunningly beautiful.

The insane prices paid for some of the hot rods, the Rusty Wallace car that went for over a 100K, a Boyd car etc.

The was one Mopar, Cuda or Challenger, can't remember which, had a 331 Hemi in it and sold for large dollars. They built how many of these???

Way to many people with way to much money caught up in the circus enviroment of BJ.

Man hands-that is something you would see on Seinfeld

I think that most of the cars had to be left uncovered so that the shippers could identify them. There was a ton of dust on them. The cars were being washed and detailed right before they went on stage. After most rolled across the block they went back outside to the tents that smelled like horse apples.

I guess you didn't see the Speed Channel shows. They had some quite lovely "card/plaque" holders walking around the cars at times. I was hoping they'd walk over the Magnaflow chassis cam by mistake. Although they were wearing long gowns...

well, of course there was my new girlfriend Courtney Hansen (sadly, she has no idea she is my new girlfriend):

and yes, I'd say Scottsdale is VERY SoCal-ish when it comes to a large inventory of large-breasted blonde-haired women, lots of that walking around there.

And BJ had these gals on stage, like 4 of them, in reddish prom dresses (it seemed) and wearing jewelry from one of the vendors - they were pretty young things to be sure
