How can I confirm I have 1of6 (or 1of?) 435hp with power sterring
I went to the Stanford Concourse I California this past summer and one guy was claiming he had the only black 67 convertible 435hp with red in interior. How can he make this claim? I thought build records did not exists.
With that said, someone at the show told me my car is 1 of 6 435hp coupes built with power steering. How can I confirm this?....
Thanks
Roy

Build records are not all inclusive of every option combination. The Corvette Black Book has some basic data, but not all of it. It's all in how you filter down the numbers body style, engine, color and options.
3754 '67 Vettes had the 435, 5747 had PS, 815 painted black. Sometimes owners created urban legends around their own cars. Dennis

Maybe he did a % calculation that I've heard of some people doing based on his options and the % of cars built with those options.
I ordered my car without a radio, but with shoulder belts. It also has PS, PB, and a 3.36 rear axle which may be a little rare for a 427/435 car.
According to the calculation, my car wasn't ever built!!!

This is from an old thread about trim tag and options...

"The information on transmission and various installed options comes from the EXCEPTION CONTROL LETTERS after the interior trim code. In your case these are AA (402AA). For 1965 this decodes as "No Restrictions", which means that it doesn't give us any special insight into the various options installed or not installed on your car. Sorry
Larry"
Sooooo, that means my car could have come with all the options and were taken out, which can be reinstalled in the future! Seems like they took everything off except the PB. Time to put it back to "original". Then I can order a tank sticker, since the original is not around. Caching, caching Ha ha.

According to concourse judges it was correct, but even with a correct tank sticker and documented history on the car, how do you really know it was the only one produced? The build records from GM don't exist.

My white 67 427/400 (tripower) coupe, came with tan interior, A/C, and a close ratio 4-speed with 3.70 posi rear gears. according to the dealers order forms, that (A/C with CR and 3.70) was not a permissable combination.....yet I bought it.....on the last day of December 1966.

I wrote to Noland Adams about my 67 435 many years ago. From him I was informed that mine was one of 3754 435 hps, of that number 385 had power steering, of that number 50 were sold in California with AIR, of that number only one was silver with a white top, mine. Now where he was coming up with that information, I do not know.

I suppose if you do enough regression analysis, everyone out there has a "one off" car. A friend of mine ordered a new '63 and it arrived with three hubcaps and it was also missing the radio volume control tuner. I think this may qualify as a rare "cap/****" delete option that was only available in the SWC. He could get twenty stations but was unable to hear any of them.

My '67 coupe (Jan car) also was 3.70 rear, close ratio, and AC. Today, it is an original 400 hp, but back when I had it, the original engine had long before disappeared so I guess it is one of those restoration miracles today.
The old NCRS Pocket Spec Guide doesn't list a restriction on the big block, 4 speed, AC cars except for the 435 hp.
