Wrecked C2 Pic
I came across a couple of photos taken in 1969 for insurance purposes. The C2 in the pic below looks like it was in an ugly accident. I'm not a C2 guy, so I don't see much other than a totaled C2 with sidepipes and bald snow tires on the rear. What was this before the dreadful accident???
I have a couple of different angles that I will scan in later tonight or tomorrow.

Wow, looks bad, I hope the occupants survived. I see that the car had seat belts, hope they were being used. When did seat belts become standard equipment on Corvettes or did they always have them?

early seatbelts were used only to keep the bodies close to the wreckage

I'd say the occupant(s) were very lucky to be in a coupe!
Reminded me of seeing the well publicized picture of Jan Berry's (Jan & Dean fame) Corvette which impacted the rear of what I recall to be a garbage truck. On April 12, 1966, Berry crashed his Corvette into a parked truck on Whittier Drive in Beverly Hills. The car impacted the rear of the truck at such speed to the point where Jan was nearly decapitated. It's amazing what some of these Corvettes and there occupants were subjected to.

Here's that pic for those that have never seen it. This is from his obituary in 2004: Early in 1966 Jan Berry received his draft notice. To relax as he always did, he went driving in Hollywood, where he crashed his Corvette Stingray at 90mph into a parked truck. Although he survived, his three passengers were killed. Berry suffered from brain damage, was in a coma for weeks and was totally paralysed for several months.

Jan's Sting Ray
Do you think that black plate is DMV clear? Get it and the back one and you are YOM on 7-1 !
As for three passengers, no problem. Recall people used to stuff 18 into a VW bug,,,,,,,,,,,,and drive it!

For the person who asked - seat belts were first installed as a factory option in 1958. Seat belt anchor provisions were provided by the factory in 1956-7 - presumably for dealer installed seat belts.
As for the accident, those tires are definately old snow tires. And the accident was probably a roll over where the car got loose going off the highway and had the front end dig into very soft ground going down an embankment. Notice the mud infront of one of the pictures. This would be typical of late winter ground in the cold climate areas.
