Default Changing oil pan

Is it possible to change a big block oil pan with the engine in place?

Thanks,
Rex

Default oil pan

yes you can change it, you will need to drop the tie rod, but then it is no problem.

I just did this on my 65 small block, I know you were asking about a BB but I thought I would pass this along. I un-bolted the idler arm from the frame and that allowed the tie rods etc to drop down with plenty of room for the oil pan to drop down.

IFRC, you have to drop the starter on a big block, but a very easy pan to drop.
