Default engine run stand

Does anyone have plans they would share for building a "run/test" stand for a small block chevy?

Here's the one Paragon made for their own use - made mostly from square tubing.

This is a test stand I am in the process of building right now. I have all the material and am now drilling the holes and machining the parts. It should be complete in a few weeks. You can purchase the plans on eBay for $8.50 ==> here.

The trick to having a good engine testing stand is to think ahead and plan for the details:

How will you do throttle control?
Will you include a fuel shut off valve?
What about an electrical kill switch?
What other circuit protections will you provide for the wiring?
How much instrumentation do you want/need?
Will you run off battery or provide for run-time recharging?
What provisions will you include for engine cooling?
What will you do about exhaust and muffling the noise?

I couldn't weld if my life depended on it, but I can plan and plan and plan. So I bought a bare bones pre-fab stand from Northern Tool and then made it my own.

Throttle control is via lawn mower cable. Fuel and electrical shut offs are included. All circuits are fused. A large radiator handles cooling and an alternator keeps the battery hot.

Here's the one I used! Only took a couple of minutes to completely disassemble the car, and a few thousand bucks!!
