Default just want I make sure this is a 454 and not 427 block

so now that we know my friends 454 will work for a 427, he wants to make sure he has the passenger one and from what I saw saw Im thinking this might be a 427 block:

Drivers side of block shows:"HI PERF PASS" "K23 445"
back side has a big P and then "ACFO (maybe D??) then "286" below this. Vin #14015445 there "PASS" stamped on the back side too
there was an intake on it with the #465839.

So if you guys see anything that would make this a non passenger block let me know...

14015445 is a 454 block used from 1978-1990 according to the Mortec website

http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm

What you really need is the engine assembly code which is stamped on the pad just forward of the passenger side head to find out how the engine started life. The K23 is possibly a casting date which might translate out to November 2, 1983. Get all the info from the stamp pad--that should make it easier to ID the block.

RON

P.S. Check the bottom of the cylinder bores--If I remember correctly, the bottom of the bores in a 454 had notches for the rod bolts to clear the bores--427's did not need these as the stroke was shorter.

14015445 is all you need to know.

It's a 454 block of the Mark IV variety.

Also should have 7.4 in large raised numbers on the side of the block.
