Seat Belts on a 1963?
I have a 1963 coupe and it never had seat belts in it, are they required to drive the car legally? Who would be a good supplier for seat belts?

Depends on your goal with the car. If you just want a set of seat belts, any of the Corvette parts places would be good. I'd suggest Paragon.
If you want a set that is very close if not perfect to original for judging purposed, then you'd have to go elsewhere. I haven't personally seen the Paragon product, but since they are so inexpensive I'd suspect they wouldn't do well in judging.

'63 came with seat belts. They have a recognizable weave and the buckles are also easy to identify. Check the 63-64 JG.
As a matter of fact, I think I bought some from Bill Irwin....
SSsssnake oyl sells them for a zillion dollars. Check out the swap meets if you want a correct set.
Correction... that was Bill Lacy (sorry Bills)

I checked Paragon and they have a repalcement set for $62 and that will fit my needs. I will also look into shoulder belts. My car is a driver and after 20 years in storage and 2 years of work its ready to drive.

I bought a set of the Paragon belts for my 63. They don't look exact but they do look era correct (aircraft style) and for the price you can't beat them.

George thanks for that excellent information. I am a retired automotive engineer and worked on designing car and truck bodies for years and I must compliment you on your efforts on seat belt installation. Modern restraint systems with air bags and curtains are really marvels of engineering safety to protect you in a crash and do not even come close to what they put on the C2's. After viewing your post I will take the installation of my seat belts much more seriously. I will now definitely add shoulder belts.
