1959 fan spacer
I went to a cruise nite here in New Jersey last Tuesday, in drives a 1959 that looked original, well taken care of ,not restored car. He opened up the hood , it was a 230 H.P. engine . I noticed that the four blade fan was bolted directly to the belt pulley. The fan was at least 1 1/2" to 2' away from the shroud. I have a 1960 without the thermostatic [clutch] fan option , it came with a four blade fan with a p/n 3754905 aluminum spacer. [There is a picture of it in the 1960 assembly manual Section 6, sheet #2.00 ]
Should that 1959 have that spacer, or was that a later improvement?
[Midyear change ?]
Or was it the wrong shroud?. I know there are there is a deep shroud and a shallow shroud.
It looked really strange without the spacer.

I found the answer in Nolands book -Vol #1. On page 252 , right hand column.
The '59 must have the later incorrect shallow shroud on it. That spacer wasn't available until 1960.
1958 thru 1959 had a deeper shroud on than the shallow 1960 thru 1962 shroud.
