Default Tight indeed

Someone went to a lot of trouble to put a 348/409 into a C-1. With all that weight on the nose, it must be a handful to drive. Jerry

Looks like power steering been added too. I can understand that with the added wgt. of the "W" engine.

Believe it or not, this is not the 1st time I've seen this. It was long ago '70s modified C1.

[QUOTE=Tampa Jerry; With all that weight on the nose, it must be a handful to drive. Jerry[/QUOTE]

i've got 55 belair with a 348, it's mounted about 2" further forward than the stock mount location, and has cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds. it drives great! it replaced a small block with headers and alum. intake that was mounted further back. i can't really tell the difference in the way it handles. i doubt the vette would drive all that bad.

Here it is, the 348/409 that all those strokes said you could get in a corvette, in the flesh. This is fitting, a truck motor in a car with a truck front end, does it get any better than that?????

In about 1968ish my uncle bought a thieft recovered 63 vert. Only the engine and trans were missing. He slipped a 409 in it (well not really slipped, it was a lot of work) 4 speed. Then painted it gold with black SS type strips. I've always wondered what happened to that car. Any Omaha Nebraska peeps out there know about this car?

I know where there is a `54 with a 409. Otherwise completely original.

the front suspension/crossmember for the 53 thru 62 is straight out of a Chevy truck....

53 Chevy trucks had straight axles.............and you thought C1's had "dated" front suspensions.

It's out of a 49 and later big car, not a truck. That was my mistake.
