According to chevymania I was able to get the following.

Block Casting
3892657 302/327/350 64-67 210-350 car & Truck 2-bolt

Block Date Code
L276 December 27 1966

Head Casting
3890462 302/327/350 62-68 1.94/1.50 2.02/1.60 64cc Doubble humps

The problem is with VOII2HD
V = Flint and the HD is HD 66 327 Corvette 350 L-79 4-spd 4-Brl Holley, HP Hyd Cam, A.I.R.

But what is O2II in the middle? says its should be a date code?

I will buy that, saves $ on the typesets. Thanks all!

(Sure wish there was a national registry to reunite lost motors with owners, but what survives longer the motor or the car?)

Yep, 0112, or, Jan 12. Which of course means it was ASSEMBLED in Jan, which fits since the block was CAST in Dec, seventeen days earlier.

Default Cylinder head #3890462 correct for a 64 L76?

I have to expose that old thread...
My 64 Coupe with original L75 (300bhp) engine became an upgrade to L76 (365bhp) when it was restored a while ago.
The block-# are matching but the heads showing:
3890462 and the date code L276/L286.
Up to now my search resulted in Chevelle/Camaro/Corvette
What is right?
Do these heads match to my L76-upgrade?

Thanks!
Markus

462 heads were also used on passenger cars - on Corvettes, they were only used in '67, and were replaced by 291 heads starting in March of '67; yours were cast on December 27th and 28th of 1966, so they're almost three years too late for your '64.
