9 Fin Valve Covers?
Hi: I have a 1956 Corvette with a proper date coded 265 V8. The suffix code is still on the block which decodes for a 1956 Belair 265 power pack. The casting number is correct. The engine is properly built with the solid lifter cam and dual carbs. Very correct for the most part. 3 speed manual.
Q?: 9 fin or 7 fin valve covers? I also have heard about "low script" 9 fin valve covers.
Which valve cover is correct for the aforementioned 265 set-up?
Thanks!

56 is either 9 fin or stamped steel depending on horsepower. single 4 carb is steel, dual quads are 9 fin.

Thanks for the help. Been looking for a decent set of proper 9 fins. Not a crises, but if a good set comes available I might be interested. Car has 7 fins on it now in near perfect condition.
Are all 9 fin valve covers "low script?"

Also, the very early version 9 fins do not have the top rail notched for intake manifold clearance. Later ones are all notched at the intake runners. The early version is probably the most expensive of all!

Thanks! I have been looking at a near perfect set with the notches in them so that is good to know. I haven't posted a "part wanted" note since I'm not sure if I want to spend the money right now (don't want to waste anyone's time). I know I will buy them eventually and perhaps now is a decent time to look for a pair fairly priced. I see them for sale from time to time.
