Default Seat restoration 1964 Corvette

Does anybody here know where i can download instructions on how to restore your seats? Its faster to download than to get a restoration CD from one of the suppliers.

Just found out that the seats for a 64 and 65 Corvette are identical.
And i thought that i had to buy new seat frames because mine is from a 65 Corvette.

FYI, the 64 and 65 seats are NOT identical. The 64 backs have pointed metal tabs on the bottom which are used to attach the front and back material to the seat back bottom. 65 removed this. This part can be bought and welded to the 64 bottom.
If you have any questions on installation PM me.
Thanks,
Larry

Default 64-65 seat frames

Hi Saint, I read 2 of your posts regarding seat frames. I also have a 64 convertible with 65 seats. I tried to install the 64 foam & covers on the 65 frames and it didn't work. I saw that someone told you that the frames are different sizes, then I saw you post that the 64-65 frames are the same. Which turned out to be correct? I don't want to buy new frames if I don't need them. Thanks for any help.

Saint,
I sent you the parts to make your seats a 64 style.
I will be happy to walk you through the installation process if you want to do them yourself. Let me know.
Larry

FYI, I will be doing a set of 63 seats this weekend. They are almost identical. (installation wise)

Woodsdesign, I'm brand new to this forum and I'm restoring my first car, a 1964 convertible. On a post yesterday I wrote to 'the saint' above that I have a 64 convertible with 65 seats. I tried to install the 64 foam & covers on the 65 frames and it didn't seem to fit properly. The frame didn't fit in the foam correctly and the cover didn't fit the foam as it should have. I saw that someone told 'the saint' that the frames are different sizes, then I saw another post that said the 64-65 frames are the same. Before I buy different frames, can you please tell me if I'm right about the sizes or am I doing something wrong. I'm using the video from Corvette America and the foam & covers were bought from Full Throttle. Thanks for any help.

You do not have the tabs on the 65 seat frames that is on the 1964

See the sharp points on the pictures(you see them clearly on the left picture)

I have never actually measured the seat frames. I THINK they are the same except for the pointy tabs on the bottom. I will do some checking and let you know.

Since this is a complete resto, the seats are not a rush. Just something to do while I wait. I'll wait to see if you have any other info. Thank you for your help.

Mike,
I just completed the 63 seats. They are the same as 65's except for the tabs.
I have done these seats where the tabs were broke off. You can hog ring them or use zip ties. Since they are on the bottom of the seat back you won't notice. However, you can buy the tabs and have them welded on. I had a set that I gave to The Saint.
If you need any help feel free to PM me.

Thanks Larry. After giving it my best I determined that the hog ring IS the best solution. Everything else seems the same. Hog rings on the bottom rail will do the job. Thanks for the looking out and for taking the time. Much Appreciated.

Zip ties are a little cleaner look. Just don't get ones that have to big a head.
