Default Russo & Steele Auction Damage

Sorry if this is a repeat of another posting, but if not, here is a link to a video slide production of some of the damaged cars at the Russo & Steele auction on the 21st at Scottsdale, AZ. Happened when a couple of the tents collapsed in high winds, I believe. I've never seen so many collector cars damaged at one time at the same location!!

Makes you glad you carry good insurance!!

Bummer, I can only imagine what those owners are feeling. I hope the auction has the insurance to cover it all? Some of the cars in original survivor condition can't ever be "fixed"

A friend of mine took pictures of several cars damaged including an Eleanor Mustang that had rood damage. It had upwards of 3/8" of bondo over most of the roof. Does this remind one to beware when buying a car?

The owners could not get to see their cars for over a day after the big winds. Many of the cars (convertibles) sat out in the rain for a very long period of time. I would think 3-6 inches of rain fell on those cars while they were outside. Police called it a crime scene, so no one was allowed on site...

Are the owners responsible for the repairs, or the auction house?

Default Adding further injury (allegedly)

It was reported that Russon & Steele refused to refund entry fees to owners of damaged cars. If true, that's not a ringing endorsement of Mr. Alcazar's business ethics. Can anyone confirm or refute this report?

Man, that is bad...

There's going to be lots of busy auto body and glass shops. Pretty rough deal.

Here's another link to an article on the damage . . . .

http://www.azcentral.com/community/s...-shows-CR.html

Here's a quote from the article . . . . .

"Chuck Favour, Hagerty Insurance vice president of claims, said his company has insured about 125 of the cars at Russo and Steele.
After viewing the auction site from the Loop 101, he estimated that as many as half the 600 cars on the lot were damaged with dents and scratches from tent poles and debris."

I use Hagerty. I will be curious to hear how they cover things. I wonder if any of the damaged car owners were forum members? Maybe some feedback will come our way.

Another question for the Insurance co....Are the Premiums going to go up for the individual on their renewal?
Or for the Whole Group of Classic Car Premium holders? Time will tell.

On Mecum tonight they said the damage was in the tens of millions.
