I suggest 40 ft. lbs.

From the '66 chassis overhaul manual. "Tie rod end nut".

Try your Assembly Manual, UPC 9, sheet 2.00, View "A" for the tie rod clamp bolts; torque symbol 5, 12-16 ft-lbs.

Tie rod end nuts (item #7), torque symbol 2, 29-43 ft-lbs.

Don't mean to Hi-Jack your post, but seems you have just completed this replacement...
I'm wondering how difficult you found this job to be, and what tools were needed to get things apart

I plan to start replacement soon myself

Thanks
Tony

Taking the linkage apart is not to difficult. You need a ball joint seperator or something similar. I bought a little kit at sears similar to this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/search_10...ools&x=12&y=17

Basically all the linkage just wedges apart. I replaced all my tie rod ends with Moogs. I striped and painted my sleeves and relay rod. Everything looks great but I dont have it back on the car yet so I cant tell you how hard that is.
