Restore steering wheel....
A cybernet friend who frequents a few other forums I visit Flickr, dpreview.com (digital photograph) sent me an e-mail asking if I could recommend anyone to restore the steering wheel for his 57 Vette which he has owned since the 1980's...
I suggested he ask here but he is not a member of this site and asked if I would post his query for him...
I believe he lives in California as he mentioned someone in San Diego
who operates Quality Restorations. However he wants $950.00 and that doesn't include the chrome work needed or shipping...
Bob (aka Rat Rod Studios on Flickr) said he purchased a replacement steering wheel but returned it feeling the quality wasn't acceptable...
He would prefer the opinion of someone who actually used the service they are recommending...
You can see some of Bob's (Rat Rod Studios) work at Flickr here

Garys Steering Wheel Restoration, in Carlisle PA does them. The last time I checked, he was getting around $400-$450 to do 56-62 wheels. A google of Garys Steering Wheel should get his number and website.
There was a company in CA doing them also, Quality Wheel Restorations, I think, but I don't know anything about them. Someone else on the forum may know more about them.

'57 steering wheel restoration
John Hinckley and many other NCRS, BG judges (me included) have used and recommend Richard Dunham located in Haslett, MI. He did my '56 shoreline beige and he did an incredible job. I don't know what he is now charging, but I believe I was charged betweenn $400 and $450 a few years back. He can be reached on his cell phone at 517-331-6010 or 517-339-8225. I have heard good things about Gary's as well, but I only have experience with Richard. Good luck,

Richard Dunham is THE guy for C1 steering wheels - that's all he does.
