Several years ago I was looking for some high speed rated radials with a narrow whitewall for a '62. I had heard bad things about Coker so Diamondback seemed to be the only other choice. I chose not to use their tires because, at that time, they actually cut some of the material off the sidewall, and I didn't feel like that was the safest thing to do, especially with a "W" or "V" rated tire. Don't know if they still do it that way, but it might be something to think about. I just learned to live with blackwalls.

Nope, they don't cut any material off the sidewall - they only buff off any raised logos, etc. that are in the area that will be covered by the applied (vulcanized) whitewall. I spent a day in their plant documenting their processes and wrote a photo-illustrated feature article on it in the September '07 issue of "Corvette Enthusiast" magazine.

If you go with radials and have full wheel covers install metal valve stems. They will keep your wheel covers from rotating off and or cutting the rubber stems

Put a set of Michelin X redlines on my 67 from DiamondBack late last fall, love the look, service from them and less than 100 miles on the tires. Will post later this year on the tires and their performance after more miles.

Rick, that is the exact tire I want to use on my '65 Roadster.
What size tire did you use and what size wheels are they on ?
Thanks,
Steve

I'm also a Diamondack fan. I first purchased a set of 15" redline radials for the 67 Camaro. Even though it came with an older set of radials, with the Diamondbacks it drove like a new car. I was so impressed that I ordered a second set of redlines for my project 59 Vette. Very nice folks to deal with too.

Please do!! I've been sorta tracking your progress on the car by the various questions you've asked and the problems you have encountered and almost feel like I have a vested interest in the outcome at this point. Pictures of another restored, roadworthy C1 always make my day...

These are Diamondback Dayton Daytona 215R65-15s that have taken me cross-country twice (and lotsa places in-between - mostly exceeding the posted speed limit - but I never said that!)
