Default C2 cigarette lighter/cell phone

This will probably never happen but if I plug my cell phone with a dead battery into the cigarette lighter of my '63 will it work or light up like a cigar?
Thanks,
Tom

I've charged a cell phone with the lighter in my '65 many times, no problems.

What happens when you put your phone charger into the lighter recepticle in your late model car? Same thing in an old Vette. The lighter is about the only thing that hasn't changed.

I've plugged in Phone Chargers, IPOD chargers, etc. with never a problem. Same lighter as is in you daily driver.

With the lighter element removed, the lighter now becomes what we know today as a 'power point'. Bill.

Note that the Corvette lighter wasn't fused until 1967; if you're going to use the receptacle regularly for powering other devices, it might be a good idea to install an in-line fuse in pre-'67 cars.

Default Sat Nav

I use mine to power the Sat Nav, no problems, (Sat Nav is great for accurate speed readings in KM/H)

Most chargers have their own low amperage fuse built into the plug, so if your charger already has a fuse, (it'll be easy to find) you don't necessarily need to add one to the car's wiring.

It not a bad idea to add one though, especially if you find that the empty socket is a good place to store pennies
