Default Fuse size amperes for cigarette lighter

I just wired and connected the cigarette lighter in my car.
I put the cigarette lighter on one free fuse that is not in use and i connected it so the fuse takes the cigarette lighter and nothing else.

My question is how many amps do the fuse have to be just being there for the cigarette lighter and nothing else?
I put a 8 amperes fuse there but i would like to have as few amps as possible

What do my fellow forum members say?

Connect an Amp gauge (such as a digital multi-meter) in place of the fuse, and then engage the cig. lighter in order to see how many amps the meter says is being pulled. Then add a fuse 1 Amp larger than that.
