Default Project 396 Unloading

Got home last Thursday. have a boat to finish so was not in a hurry to unlaod. A friend Todd H wanted to "see the new project" so he came over and we inloaded her. Images taken w BlackBerry so appologize for poor quality.

She isn't new anymore, but appears quite complete and totally stock. The 396 is a replacement so will be dealing w that.

Off the trailer.

Note spare was installed prior to loading because the installed tire would not hold air.

Ready to put into garage.

Front
Body looks straight and solid.

Side
Both sides looks solid.

Hey 427 Badges!
Not sure what's up with these; perhaps engine is bored.

Engine area
Needs help. Nothing a complete engine transplant can't fix!

Put it on the rack and inspected the bottom.
Looks very complete; no mods that I could detect. (But then, what do I know?)

Rear tires very close to parking brake bracket.
These wheels are 15x7 from a 1968 Corvette.
3 3/4" backspace, code AG.
May have to pedal them.
Tires too close to fenders front and rear.
But then tires appear oversized, too.

Anyway, lots of work here; keep me off the streets and out of trouble.

Looks like a good starting point. Nice to see it still has the original, and very expensive, power brake dual master cylinder.

Good luck.

Congrats. on getting it home safely. You need to come up with a new name for the "Serpent Express" in order to cater to the Corvette crowd.

Yes, late 65: there is what another member said:
17196 VIN would be built sometime around mid May, 1965

The rear end has F442665 on it; does that mean anything?
LNJ

If it's FA42665 it would indicate a 3:70 posi rear end for a 396 engine Corvette that was built (rear end assembly) on April 26, 1965.
Trans: 3851325 S117196 (matches VIN)

FYI: The M/C has 1/4 to 3/16 adapters, so it's not a '65 3/16 outlet M/C. It's probably a service replacement. Function is the same...no biggie.
