This is one of the best threads on this forum and it is no longer a "sticky". That's too bad as it is a great read.

Jack, so you are painting your whole car because of that little incident with the pole?

Hit pole, missed bumpers and hit right in middle of rear. Broke bonding strip and cracked rear in many places...

Then insurance nightmare!

Now car being fixed buy local auto body in my home town that is not known for auto body shops as this is the only one.

Stay tuned for the ride...,oh guess why I need a new sending unit?.....hint...the "Grinder"...

Jack

[QUOTE=66jack;1592069233]As much as Jack drives his car...

Other post.....I will continue only on this thread....

Hi, new unit came in. I have a Spectra Premium. I tested it on my car(tank is out)...plugged it into sending harness wires, turned on key. Unit showed empty when rod down & full when up. The first time in 40 years that the needle moved slowly with out jumping. I will not know how low it will show until I test it in the tank before gas is put in.

I will think about rebuilding the original depending on the unit performance and if it does not leak.

Stay tuned

Jack

Wait till you meet the characters that are working on my car! "The negotiator " (owner) . The "Grinder" I heard him say " I pick up grinder, I grind, I put down ".....O ' God and there is the "Bean counter "...

How did this happen...pictures to follow...not even a sheet over my dash....

jack, jack, jack, jack!
Do these Bothel's boys have even the first clue about repainting a plastic/fiberglass car?
You must be taking it back to Maroon I presume?
do they remove the side view mirrors before they paint? How about before they grind?
completely nuts,
yes, you are.

You do have to take off trim and mirrors to paint ? I think they took off the bumpers.....why the wheels ? I will ask this afternoon when I bring them some more parts . Its seems that things keep breaking.

Maybe the Grinder should not work out at the gym so much...

Pictures later today........

Well, this is all just too amazing for me. How could we not know about this accident?! You've kept us all in the dark! And, just how fast could you have been going, to do what appears to be a lot of damage? Backward??!!
Your car has always appeared as a beautiful example of a C2, one that gets driven, sure, but, one that looks like a showroom, right off of the floor, new car. Sure is hard to see it looking like it does.

BTW, that Grinder looks like he's really ready to do so serious grinding!

Good luck to you and hopefully, you're back on the road in time for the summer season.

Summer season.....Grinder says just a few more days....

The pole separated the bonding strip from the rear deck and lower side. Had to take out tank to get to repairs. Need to strip paint to front of doors to match paint, plus the glass cracked in many places on rear as it flexed from the slow hit.

Well, thanks for the update, even though its not pleasant to read. At least you'll be getting back on the road quickly.

Default The doors are off the car!

I show up 1 minute after 5 and the doors are locked. The lights are on but I can't see anyone.

Looked through windows and saw no doors and tape. Are they hiding from me ?
